Little did I know that when I started this venture that starting a photography business has a lot of well, business aspects to it! By business I guess I mean branding, marketing, client presentation, etc. So I am pleased to say that, after a year of starting my business, I have most of my “business” stuff finally in order! (Ha, does that make sense…that was a lot of “business” in one sentence!) Anyways, I started out with a logo from Chris and just went from there. I am so pleased with how everything has turned out. And I have gotten many client compliments too! So I thought, I would give you a little tour around the Emily Crump Photography business side of things!
New Client Folder
They say that a first impression is everything, right? Well, I thought what a better way to give my client all the information that they need for a session right at their fingertips, than a new client folder. This folder gets mailed out to all my clients after our first initial email or phone call to schedule the session. It has everything from pricing sheets to a referral program.
My referral program is enclosed in a petal envelope from Paper Source with a sticker from my wonderful Etsy provider 10 Candles Shoppe. Each client will get three 2.5×3 in referral cards to pass out to their friends and family members after our session to earn valuable discounts towards their next session.
Sometimes clients book months in advance so it is super important to have an appointment reminder card that they can stick in their wallets or on the refrigerator.
This next thing was something that I though was super important. Do you know how after your session is over and everyone is packing up to leave and you are standing outside of your cars talking about when they can expect to see a sneak peek, blog post and online album. Well this just helps to give them something to look back on and say “Yes, Emily did say that my sneak peek would be up on the blog in three days and my online album should be ready in two weeks.” That way there is no confusion and clients aren’t left wondering “where are my photos?”
This is a tri-fold brochure that gives the client a little welcome to Emily Crump Photography and a little bit more about what my photography is all about. It also gives the clients some information about the session fee pricing and what the Classic Sessions and the Newborn Sessions entail.
Order Packaging Presentation
Now onto a little bit about how I package all my orders. (This is just referring to my desktop prints, I am still looking for a cute, practical way to package all my large prints, gallery wraps, and custom storyboards…my husband suggested that I sew something! He is so cute!) Anyways, I digress. Again, I believe that presentation is so very important so I wanted to impress the socks of my clients with my packaging.
Each of my collections that I offer include digital files, so obviously the CD packaging had to be fun, but also include all the necessary documentation that go along with the digital files. I used a tri-fold brochure and a CD hub. This gave me all the room I needed to include my copyright release information and printing recommendations.
Each client also receives a hand-written thank you note, a few extra business cards for their wallets, and a copyright notice and print care card.
All packaged up neatly, sealed with a sticker and the client gift on top held by the ribbon. Yes, I said client gift! Let me give you a hint about what it is…think mini album!
Then it all goes into the bag with the extra cute bag tag! (Ha, I seriously love the bag tag!) And off it goes to adorn someone’s home with beautiful photos!
